RESPECT FOR THE RIGHTS AND DIGNITY OF THE CLIENT
Galway Counselling Code of Ethics treats every person as a person of intrinsic worth with a right to determine their own priorities. We respect a person’s dignity and give due regard to their moral and cultural values. We always cautious not to intrude inappropriately on a person’s privacy. We always treat any information as confidential during the course of my work. Confidentiality is at the core of my therapy work, and it is of prime importance to me to maintain and sustain confidentiality as part of the therapeutic process.

COMPETENCE

We monitor and upgrade my professional skills on an ongoing basis.

As a Psychotherapist we actively monitor the limit of my own competence through supervision of our own code of ethics.

We will not practice if my professional judgment is impaired by excessive stress.

Should we feel that I do not have the necessary experience to deal with a client I will always refer them on to another professional in the field of psychotherapy.

We will never conduct ourself in an activity that would undermine public confidence in either my role as a Psychotherapist or a Hypnotherapist.

RESPONSIBILITY

Our Code of Ethics terms on which psychotherapy or hypnotherapy or psych hypnotherapy is being offered is made clear to clients before the work commences.

That I will work in a way that promotes the persons’ own control over their life, and I always respect a person’s ability to make their own decisions and allow them to change in the light of their own beliefs and values.

we will never exploit a person code of ethics either financially, sexually, emotionally or in any other way.

INTEGRITY

We will always take steps to manage personal stress, maintain my own mental health, and ensure that I do my work in a professional manner. I will always give an accurate account of my qualifications and effectiveness of the services that I provide. I will always treat everyone fair, open, and in a straightforward manner, and honour my professional commitments, and act to clarify any confusion about my role or responsibility. We will never ever use my profession relationship to exploit a person.

CODE OF ETHICS LAYED DOWN BY THE NATIONAL GUILD OF HYPNOTISTS

The National Guild of Hypnotists which we are a member of, requires it’s members to conform to a code of ethics that follow ethical principles, and shall hold members accountable for any departure from these principles.

WELFARE OF CLIENT

Members of the Guild shall make the physical and mental well being of each client a prime consideration.

SAFETY OF CLIENT

Members of the Guild shall not engage in verbal, physical or sexual abuse of any client.

PRACTICE LIMITS

Members of the Guild shall use hypnosis strictly within the limits of their training and competence and in conformity to the laws of the state.

ADVERTISING

Members of the Guild shall be truthful in their advertising.

REASONABLE PRACTICE

Members of the Guild shall withhold non referred hypnotic services if a client’s behaviour, appearance or statements would lead a reasonable person to believe that the client should be evaluated by a licensed health care professional. Members shall provide services to such a client only after evaluation and with the approval of the licensed health care professional.

COLLEAGUES

Members of the Guild shall treat hypnotist colleagues without public defamation.
